Maternity hospital. Approach your due date

Maternity hospital. Approach your due date

Congratulations on your pregnancy! As you approach your due date, it’s important to start thinking about what you will need to take with you to the maternity hospital. This can be a daunting task, especially if it’s your first time having a baby. To help you out, we’ve put together a list of essential items to pack in your hospital bag.

  1. Comfortable clothes: You’ll want to bring comfortable clothes to wear during your stay at the hospital. This can include loose-fitting pyjamas or a nightgown, a comfortable robe, and slippers or socks.

  2. Toiletries: It’s important to bring your own toiletries, including a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, and any other items you typically use. Don’t forget a hairbrush or comb and hair ties if you have long hair.

  3. Nursing bras and breast pads: If you plan to breastfeed your baby, you’ll want to bring nursing bras and breast pads to help with leakage.

  4. Baby clothes and blankets: You’ll want to bring a few changes of clothes for your baby, including onesies, sleepers, socks, and hats. You’ll also want to bring a few receiving blankets to wrap your baby in.

  5. Diapers and wipes: The hospital will likely provide diapers and wipes, but it’s always a good idea to bring your own just in case.

  6. Car seat: You’ll need to have a car seat properly installed before you can leave the hospital with your baby. Make sure to have it installed and ready to go before you go into labor.

  7. Snacks: You may want to bring some snacks or drinks to have during your stay at the hospital. Labor and delivery can be a long process, and you’ll need to keep your energy up.

  8. Entertainment: You may want to bring some entertainment, such as books, magazines, or a tablet, to help pass the time during labor and recovery.

  9. Important documents: Don’t forget to bring your insurance card and any other important documents you may need.

  10. Phone charger: You’ll want to make sure your phone is fully charged, and bring a charger just in case.

It’s a good idea to have your hospital bag packed and ready to go a few weeks before your due date, just in case you go into labor early. Make sure to discuss any additional items you may need with your healthcare provider. With these essentials, you’ll be prepared for a comfortable and stress-free stay at the hospital as you welcome your new bundle of joy into the world.

Good luck!
